JOB DESCRIPTION

 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineer specializing that is experienced with Telabs GPON technology to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust and efficient GPON-based campus network. This role requires a deep understanding of GPON, and experience in large-scale network environments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

· Design, deploy, and manage GPON networks using Telabs technology to support campus-wide connectivity.

· Configure and maintain Optical Line Terminals (OLTs), Optical Network Units (ONUs), and related equipment.

· Ensure high availability and reliability of the campus network, focusing on GPON infrastructure.

· Collaborate with other IT staff to integrate GPON technology with existing network systems.

· Conduct regular network performance tests and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.

· Provide technical support and guidance for GPON-related queries and issues.

· Keep abreast of new developments in GPON technology and make recommendations for upgrades and improvements.

· Document network configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.

· Assist in capacity planning and network architecture design for future expansions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

Qualifications

 

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering, with a specific focus on GPON technology.

· Strong knowledge of Telabs GPON equipment and configuration.

· Experience in designing and managing large-scale campus networks.

· Proficient in network protocols and standards, including IP, TCP/IP, VLAN, DHCP, and DNS.

· Familiarity with network security practices and equipment.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, or vendor-specific certifications) are advantageous.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

 

Working Conditions

 

· Office-based role with occasional need to visit various buildings on Federal campus locations.

· Must be available for after-hours work and on-call duties as needed.
